Ram Bagh

Ram Bagh (or Rama’s Garden) faces the smaller artificial lake of Rajnagar. It is still owned by the royal family.

The garden is rented to a local farmers’ family, and looks rather prosperous. It is a fine example of the slow changes in a centuries old production model. It is an exceptional garden with seven wells and the ruins of a (historical!) open air swimming pool!

Until 2011 the garden was completely intact. But then the owner has demolished a part of the wall to construct concrete shops and a petrol station. Thanks to our intervention, the most exceptional parts of the wall have been saved.
